Tournament Field
#1 Angelo State Rams (41-7, 39-7 LSC)

The top-ranked Rams have been the No. 1-ranked team in our D2 Baseball Top-25 for most of the second half of the season. D2 Rankings: https://www.diviibaseball.com/rankings
The top-ranked Rams clinched their eighth Lone Star Conference title with a dominant regular season.
ASU leads the league in batting average (.378) and fielding percentage (.977).
Winners of 11 straight entering the tournament, the Rams are the defending NCAA Division II national runners-up and 2023 national champions.
Weston Valasek, Jacob Guerrero, Ethan Flodstrom, and Chase Pendley are all hitting above .400. Ethan Flodstrom has a .583 on-base percentage! That's currently the 3rd best in D2. He's having a great season after coming over from UTPB. 47 walks drawn and has only struck out 18 times. I fully expect Flodstrom to have a big week, as he was on the 2024 All-Tournament team as a member of UTPB.
They receive a first-round bye and will host the double-elimination portion, and have won the conference tournament five times, including when they hosted in 2023.
They lead the nation in batting average and on-base percentage. They're also 4th in the country in slugging percentage, doubles per game, and scoring.
#2 UT Tyler Patriots (41-9, 40-8 LSC)

Riding a 14-game winning streak, UT Tyler owns the league’s best team ERA (3.81).
Mason Hammonds delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to help complete the sweep of Saint Mary's this past weekend, and they head into the postseason in style, setting a new record for single-season wins (41).
Ranked 5th in our polls, they will host No. 7 Texas A&M-Kingsville in Tyler (schedule below). UT Tyler swept them in the regular season.
UT Tyler is a top-10 offense, they are 7th in batting average, 6th in on-base percentage, but also top-10 in the country in ERA.
They are 21-4 at home, and have won 13 straight in Tyler.
Drew Schmidt leads the offense, hitting .450 with 19 2B, 5 3B, 3 HR, and 50 RBI.
#3 St. Edward’s Hilltoppers (32-18, 31-17 LSC)

In and out of the polls this season, for us, Saint Edward's is a strong side.
They host St. Mary's in the opening round, they split during the regular season.
They lost three of their last four at Texas A&M-Kingsville in their regular season finale, which was two weeks ago. So, they'll be rested heading into this weekend, not having played since April 19th.
St. Edward's gets on base a ton, a top-20 mark in the nation.
They lost three of four to UT Tyler and Angelo, the clear top-2 teams in the LSC during the regular season.
#4 Lubbock Christian Chaparrals (31-19, 30-18 LSC)

The defending tournament champions are a dangerous power-hitting team, leading the league with 81 home runs.
Senior Brevin McCool recently broke the Lone Star Conference’s single-season home run record (30) and leads the nation in slugging percentage and home runs per game.
They finished the regular season splitting with UTPB on the road.
They host West Texas A&M this weekend, a team they split with during the regular season, in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
#5 . West Texas A&M Buffs (31-19, 29-19)
WT, LSC tournament champions in 2016 and 2017, looks to make another deep run.
They face a powerful Lubbock Christian lineup in the opening round, they split in the regular season.
Won final three of regular season.
#6 . St. Mary’s Rattlers (28-22, 26-22 LSC)
St. Mary’s will travel to Austin to take on St. Edward’s in the opening round, they split in the regular season.
The Rattlers won the LSC tournament in 2015.
#7 . Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas (27-23, 26-22 LSC)
TAMUK, the 2013 LSC tournament champions, will visit UT Tyler looking to pull off a first-round upset.
