D2 Baseball Top 25: Major Shakeups, Southeast & PSAC on the Rise

The latest D2 Baseball Top 25 rankings are out: https://www.diviibaseball.com/rankings

One thing is clear: the Southeast Region is shaping up to be an all-out battle. Six teams from the region have earned a spot in the rankings, with another seven receiving votes. With now eight regional bids available—five at-large from the Conference Carolinas (CC), Peach Belt Conference (PBC), and South Atlantic Conference (SAC)—the road to the NCAA Tournament will be as competitive as ever in this region.

Lenoir-Rhyne leads the charge for the Southeast at No. 5, with North Greenville and Catawba also inside the top 10. With such a deep field of talented programs, every series in the Southeast carries postseason implications and feels like a 'must-watch' battle.

This week's schedule is filled with high-stakes matchups, including #7 North Greenville vs. #19 Young Harris and RV UVA-Wise vs. #5 Lenoir-Rhyne—both with major postseason implications. RV Lander and North Georgia will also battle in a showdown that could shape the playoff picture, both tied for first in the Peach Belt. With all three conferences stacked at the top, this may be one of the strongest regions we've ever seen in Division II baseball. Out of the 40 teams in the Top 25 or receiving votes this week, 13 are from the Southeast Region. This just reinforces the argument for selecting the best 56 (and hopefully one day, 64) teams for the NCAA tournament rather than relying solely on regionalization, but that is certainly a song for another time.

Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) is making its presence known, with four teams landing inside the top 18. The depth of talent in the PSAC signals a strong race for regional positioning as the season progresses. Seton Hill, East Stroudsburg, and West Chester (all top-25 PSAC teams) are first, second, and third, respectively, in the country in ERA. Millersville (the other PSAC top-25 squad) makes a huge jump this week after a perfect week from No.21 to No.12. They are dangerous with the 12th-best on-base percentage in the country and 10th in D2 with 10.1 runs per game, and top-5 in stolen bases.

At the top, Tampa takes over the No. 1 spot, continuing its dominant season. Westmont jumps to No. 2, while Central Missouri holds strong at No. 3. Angelo State and Lenoir-Rhyne round out the top five.
