Seven teams. Three days. One crown.
As the Lone Star Conference (LSC) regular season enters its final weekend, the atmosphere in dugouts from San Antonio to Canyon is shifting. While most of the field is set, the "how" and the "where" remain a chaotic puzzle. With a regular-season title on the line and a desperate three-way scramble for the final hosting spot, there's a lot to be aware of this weekend.

The Format
The LSC Tournament uses a unique two-weekend structure. The No. 1 seed hosts and earns a bye directly to the second round. The remaining six teams (Seeds 2–7) will square off in a best-of-three series hosted by the higher seed (No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6, and No. 4 vs. No. 5).
Note: UT Dallas (32-14) is currently ineligible for the postseason due to their transition from Division III, meaning every team below them in the standings slides up one spot in the bracket.
The Heavyweights: Title Fight in the Alamo City
The Scenario: UT Tyler (37-9) at St. Mary’s (35-11)
The regular-season title, and the top overall seed, comes down to a head-to-head collision in San Antonio.
The Favorite: UT Tyler controls the path. Holding a two-game lead, the Patriots need to win only two games to claim their first Lone Star Regular Season Title since joining the conference (Note: UT Tyler was in first place in 2020 before the season was cancelled).
The Challenger: St. Mary’s needs a legendary performance at home. A 3-1 series victory for the Rattlers results in Co-Champions, where the Rattlers would be the No.1 seed and host the double-elimination portion of the tournament. If the Rattlers can find the magic for a 4-0 sweep, they leapfrog Tyler to take the crown solo, which would be their first regular season title since joining the conference.
The Battle for the "Golden Ticket": The No. 4 Seed
While the top of the bracket is about the trophy, the middle is about home-field advantage. The No. 4 seed is the final hosting spot, and with UT Dallas ineligible, the race is a dead heat between three programs.
Note: St. Edward’s will play one fewer game (49 total) than Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M (50 total).
St. Edward's (28-17, .622) – Current Seed: 4
The Hilltoppers are the masters of their own fate.
The Path: A sweep (4-0) of UT Dallas clinches the No. 4 seed regardless of other scores.
The Danger: If they go 3-1, they host unless Lubbock Christian pulls off a 4-0 sweep to barely edge them out.
Lubbock Christian (28-18, .609) – Current Seed: 5
The Chaps have been one of the most consistent forces in the LSC, but they need help as they face UT Permian Basin at home this week.
The Path: LCU essentially needs to be one game better than St. Edward's this weekend.
The Scenario: If LCU goes 4-0 and SEU goes 3-1, the Chaps take it. If LCU goes 3-1, they need SEU to win no more than two games.
West Texas A&M (27-19, .587) – Current Seed: 6
The Buffaloes have the toughest path ahead to host the first round but hold the tiebreaker over both SEU and LCU.
The Path: WT likely needs a 4-0 sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Scenario: WT would need to sweep Texas A&M Kingsville AND St. Edward's MUST LOSE two or more games against UT Dallas AND Lubbock Christian MUST LOSE at least one or more games against
Texas A&M Kingsville (22-24) is locked into the 7-seed regardless of outcome this weekend.
The Outlook
The stakes couldn't be higher. For the winner of this three-way battle, they get a home series in a familiar ballpark. Four games remain. The margin for error is gone.
